My 25th Birthday

(my birthday celebration w/ my best friend Anthony)

Turning 25 was intriguing in many ways and also something that I looked forward to. Knowing that in life constant ups and downs are sure and are apart of the overall development process, I embrace getting older, maturing and continuing my learning experience. Though I am still young, before I know it I know I'll be 30...I can't believe I am already 25! After you turn 21, the rest is history...that's what people used to tell me and that is what I catch myself telling people now. Isn't that funny how we start to recite stuff our parents said as we were kids the older we get?? With that being said, I know that time is of the essence and I need to began to work towards the goals I set 5 and 10 years ago. And that includes family...One thing I have learned and come to cherish up until this point is family. Unfortunately in today's world it is much easier not to show love, appreciation or respect; we all see it all around us and on T.V. We only get one family-however that is put together-so you have to give all the love you can while you have the chance. My uncle suffered a massive heart attack last week and Teena Marie died yesterday, on my Birthday. So all this has had me reflecting on my life and my family and friends. As another year unfolds and I continue my journey, I will make the effort to love unconditionally and treat others as I would want to be treated, it's that simple...Happy New Years!

Banks continue to face failure

After reading this article, any one can question what exactly did the billion dollar TARP program do? One thing for sure, it raised the deficit and put more pressure on tax payers. But when you look at what the program was supposed to do, you wonder what is going on in the minds of the people on capitol hill and the Fed's...the banks are now again failing, even with the billion dollar bail-out. This may have something to do with the fact that there was no actual plan for recovery; the Fed's just handed the banks the money without strong regulation.

For NEDA

Nada's story is an amazing one. Though her life was taken too soon, her death was an ugly wake up call to the rest of the world about what the people of Iran have to deal with. It also showed how radical the Islamic militia is. Their will to kill is effortless. The Iranian government blacked out all media in and out of the country during these horrific events. The people persevered using their cell phones to send feeds around the world. For the people of Iran, her death forced millions out into the streets to protest against the government of Iran whether or not they were met with guns and tear gas. Neda's story spawned a revolution and the people of Iran want liberation or they want death.

The city of Philadelphia stole my car!

These past few days have been crazy for me. Friday night I walked out of my house with my friends to go out to find that my car was gone. I had no clue what to think, other than it was stolen. From right in front of my house, my car had just vanished. There were no indications that it was stolen because there was no glass and my alarm never sounded.

I called 911 and reported my car stolen. It took an amazing 3 hours for a cop to come out and take my report. After the cop left my home my partner and I went back to bed. After about thirty minutes, my phone rang; it was the police officer who had taken my report. He told me that the city had my car; that my car was reported abadoned and towed by the city. I was shocked and couldn't believe that he was serious. The idea that my car, a nice 2006 Mercury with current insurance, tags and registration, was abadoned  infuriated me.
Now does this look abadoned to you???
Now if you are a cop and you are driving down the street and you look at this car does abandoned run across your mind? To make matters worse, the cop informed me that the car was towed by the city yet no cop authorized the tow. I called my insurance company and reported my car stolen because the city stole my car. And now they are holding it until I give them money, that is illegal and wrong on so many levels. If I did this to someone else I would be sitting in jail.

Where was my notice of abdonment? Where was the police report claiming that my car was abandoned? Where are all the tickets and notices they put on a abonded car before they tow it? Further more, my car was parked on a side street in a residental neighborhood where everyone parks. Now, there is a white vehicle on my block that is abandoned and been there for almost a year. Sounds fishy right?

Well my neighbors directly across the street have been giving me major issues every since I moved in. They called the city on me twice for having my car parked in front of my house on the sidewalk during the major snow storms Philly went through a few months ago. So something tells me they definitely had something to do with it.Espeically after I let the husband know that he needs to mind his business and stay off my property.  After talking with another close neighbor, I find out that they are also linked in with the PA correctional office. I also find out that they have been problems all the years they have lived there. This all gets good for me because it sounds like she used her job to have my car illegaly stolen by the city. Sista, you won't have a job when I'm done! In order for a tow truck to come out and just take my car without a police order, someone had to call and report the car abandoned and know someone on the inside to get it towed and bypass PA Vehicle Code process. All I can say is all the people involved in this have it coming!

Public Sex Scandles: What The Other Women Wants

Don't these sideline chics get it yet? with all this coming out about Tiger Woods and Sandra Bullock's husband Jesse James recently, don't they get it? Or is it that the men are the fools from the beginnig and that is what causes things to crash and burn? Are the sideline girls just playing their part in a game but loose control at the end when reality hits that this man is married with kids? Emotions are not always easy to face and deal with.

We believe whatever it is we choose to believe, and that creates our reality. If a women wants to believe a man loves her and will some day leave his wife and children, she will and that is when the situation gets messy. The guy on the other hand holds a lot of responsibility here. ESPECIALLY when you are in the public eye. We have had countless public figures over the last several years expose for adultery. How do these guys think they are going to get away with it? Money has really blown their egos up. When you think this works...
YOU HAVE SERIOUS ISSUES...guys get just as sloppy as the side-chic does...Honestly though, money or no money, this happens all the time. My issue is the side-chic at times feels like she is owed something in the end even though this was an 'arrangement' to begin with. Who's fault is that, his or hers? When it comes to politicians (i.e. John Edwards) that is another ball game, especially when they use tax money to do their dirt. When is enough, enough? Should their be higher penalties for crimes like that? Until the FEDS step up, all we can do is continue to rely on the media to expose these people. But will that come too soon or a little too late?

Since her discovery while shopping in Primark (European version of JC Penny's) back in 2006, Jourdan Dunn has had an amazing career. After being signed immediately with Storm Management in London, she debuted as a runway model with Ralph Lauren, Ferragamo and Marc Jacobs in New York and Milan. Over the next several years, Dunn appeared in Allure and British Vogue magazines leading her to her nomination of Model of The Year in November of 2008. Dunn opened 2009 with Jason Wu, Vivienne Westwood, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier. December of 2009 she continued to walk the runway until she gave birth to her Son on a Tuesday afternoon.

Change is...Good.

2010 is a new year. What was cool to do last year has to be refined and reshaped for this year. The way we used to do things more than likely need an update. The world and people are always changing, we have to learn to keep up. Keeping up can be rewarding yet filled with drama and negativity; people tend to hate you more when you are trying to be progressive with your life.
Saying and doing are two opposites and 2010 has to be all about execution. Many tend to boast about dreams, things that are not yet reality. Or may never be. You can stay in a box while the world passes you by or you can choose to be proactive about the things you want to start happening in your life. Many find it easy and covenant to wait around counting on faith for their 'blessing' and waiting for life's gifts when we have the power within ourselves to make those tiny miracles happen. Don't get me wrong, faith and spirituality are good, I use it. But it has to be used in a way that encourages you to be responsible and intuitive about your life. Also be as educated as you can on whichever spiritual path you choose to take. History shows blood lines leading to dictators, countless wars, and foreign countries where religion was misused for evil. The result was horrific and disastrous.

The world is full of so much noise and so many distractions that we can easily get off track, but once you realize it you have to snap back into focus mode. Slips happen; Rome was not built in a day. Don't be to hard on yourself during transitions and reward yourself for even the smallest accomplishments. One helpful way to stay motivated and progressing forward is to spend the majority of your social time around those with like minds. That not only creates a support system but also encourages you to stay strong and keep going even when things get rough.
Many say you don't need a new year to make changes and I say sometimes you do. Look at 2009, I don't know that many who didn't suffer all the way through. Sometimes a new slate is a better start off then one filled with a lot of baggage and confusion. Take full responsibility for your own happiness. Don't look to friends, co workers, or community leaders for all answers and peace and happiness within. You have to know how to control your life, your choices, and your happiness.

Tyra Banks show coming to an end

Following Tyra's controversy about talk show paid actors, she is announcing the end of her talk show. The show is scheduled to end March of 2010. Banks told PEOPLE magazine that she is now turning her focus directly toward empowering and reaching out to women with her own out-reach organizations. Seems that she is following in Oprah's footsteps, or has the recent 'acting' drama had some effect on show ratings?

Adam Lives In Theory

Adam lives in theory
Trying to turn stone into bread
Masquerading like he got it figured out
Cut off from the sunshine, only smart in his own head
Leaving his descendants to hope and doubt
Left to his devices, those worth the sacrifices
Praying to the alter of himself
Making pilgrimages, thinking he's religious
Like he's got all the light, and no one else

He takes the unsuspected
Cause he knows they're not connected
And he shows them how to be just as he is
Virtually real, and commercially appealed
To the lust of all the people where he lives

Eve was so naive, blinded by the pride and greed
Wanting to be intellectual
Drifting from the way she got turned down one day
And now she thinks that she's bisexual

Caught up in emotion
Burning up in her devotion
To the king of exploitation in the field
She handed him her virtue
Cause he told her "I won't hurt you"
So she lay with him to see how good it feels

Now can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now
Now can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now

Now after the sensation, and the empty fornication
She brought affection home into her bed, quickly multiplying
Now the 3 of them are dying by the poison she perceived to be good head
Now Eve and her husband are perverted in their judgment
Cause everything appears to be the same
They entertain suggestion,
Next time just use protection

Desiring to cover up their shame
But much to their demise, poor decision closed their eyes
To the very antidote to their dilemma
Burning in their lust,
Both of them adulterous
Destroying the original agenda
Praying to the sky, in order to maintain a lie
They exhausted every possible conclusion,
They can't even entertain the solution,
In a brain filled with vain information and pollution

Hiding from the truth,
He provided an excuse to explain away his desperate situation
When confronted, blamed his wife
Giving birth to carnal life
Refusing to acknowledge what he done

Now if we can agree with who created us to be
Who says we're guilty everyone before his eyes
Making no exceptions, since the day of our conception
Predisposed to hating truth, and loving lies

Then can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now
Then can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now

Stop walking in pride, let the thief be crucified
Un-learn everything you know, and let him teach you
Line upon line, precept upon precept, say goodbye,
To this decaying social system
He wants to know, how far we're willing to go
If we love him like we say we do,
He will try us

Just don't regress,
Or slip into hopelessness
Once he's satisfied his love,
He won't deny us,

And then he'll tell us,
What, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now

My life...on the gaylist

Jus trynna keep my cool...after a long hard day of work I check my phone and I have this email from my uncle/church pastor Boe Mason. These past few weeks have been really crazy dealing with this man. Having not seen him in almost ten years, I was shocked and amazed at how this holy man of God came off to be so vicious and nasty toward me.

I saw uncle Boe over thanksgiving at a family gathering and dinner. There were other family members there too, mostly from my mothers side of the family. Since I could remember this family was heavily rooted in church and very extreme in their religious tradition and beliefs. I grew up Christian, obviously, not like I could have branched off as a Muslim or anything. Like Christian beliefs, family values are also passed down through generations. As children you can never question anything, all the answers are in the book. I believed that for a long time, even when I knew I was gay. That is why it is hard for me to believe men when they say they were once gay but are now delivered. I feel they are being torn away from their true selves to be a representation of someone or something else. This was not something I snapped into one day at the age of 16, that crazy but the belief of the majority.  DL is proof that people are not gay by choice. Sadly, I starting breaking down and hating myself. The total opposite of what I was being taught to believe in. This is where the confusion came in and I started questioning. I was being brainwashed into believing that who I was was a choice, a disgrace and an abomination. For a while I did what most gay men do, I faked it. Lived A fake life of lies and deception to make people believe I was worthy enough for their love and approval? I was apart of something that hated me and who I was, so why stay? So I left.

Some didn't like that, but I didn't care. I was no longer a puppet for lies, hate and deception.

I starting doing religious history and astrology research in my quest for wisdom and understanding, the Bible says we must have that.It concluded that all religions come together and go back to ancient Egypt sun worship and astrology. The bible is full of Pagan laws (613) or commandments that nooooone follows according to how it should be in the Bible. Laws that encourage and instruct on slavery, rape, and murder. It would be a different world, time and place if the Government and Church actually held us to the Biblical standards 100%. yes I absolutely believe in God. There is so much that cannot be explained in this universe, that there has to be. Creation serves to explain everything while evolution/science seeks to prove it but that also is not perfect or has all the answers. Many say it claims to but it doesn't. It's more about actuality and rationality. It is possible that the human mind may not even be able to fully understand what and who God is, we only use 10% of our brain mass. Finite minds cannot conceive the infinite...all religion serves a purpose to inspire and give people life purpose and meaning bc they were unable to find that on their own.

I have been getting voice mails, phone calls and text messages, yes text messages, from my uncle saying things like this like this :

Believe me when I say son, you're headed to Hell in a hand basket trying to play these games with GOD!! Because you're not playing any games with me. When you start to put a deaf ear to the truth you have to suffer the consequences

Hell in a hand basket, that's cutier than going to hell with gasoline draws on :-)

Interesting though because sadly this is all I can remember about Church growing up; fear-hell-fear-die-fear-burn-fear-suffer

I told him str8 out after 4 previous times to just leave me alone and that his remarks were getting quite offensive and disrespectful. Because, family member or not, YOU CAN GET THE BUSINESS! and he has not had the cleanest past himself, or even now from what I hear, so he, or anyone else, has a lot of nerve to look down at someone and be so judgmental. No one on this planet is the right hand of God, supposedly the only person that comes close is the Pope. Not once, after not seeing him or speaking to him for years, did he ask about current or past situations or how I was doing. He was acting just like Hitler. I advised him to join an extremist Christian group and I would believe him. Everyone reading this believed that the religious extremist who planned 9/11 really hated America and wanted to die for their beliefs. If I ever really did have a serious life crisis, I know who not to ever call him for help or support. Why does Christianity have to be used in such a nasty vicious way and pull families apart? Our Black families have enough 'reasons' to be separated, why must we constantly be searching for more? I guess the reason why I stopped believing in all this is because I never saw it doing what it claimed it was going to do. Reminds me of politicians. Am I so wrong for wanting to just live my life for me and be happy and true to myself? Can I live?

Dante's New Year Resolutions List

  • Fall in love; don't be afraid to be vulnerable. The people who are in love and relationships today had to do the same at some point. Don't let your past control your future. Remember that while you are bitterly rejecting every guy/girl, your ex's that did you wrong are living their lives and not thinking about you.
  • Get your own 'signature' style. Being a 'label' (meaning everything you wear is a label or your entire outfit is one label) does not bring out individuality. Show that you can dress yourself and you do not need a designer. When shopping, buy pieces that you can use with other labels or items you already own. Every outfit should include something 'signature' from you.
  • Take a dance class! I am currently looking into African and Hip-hop dance classes. It is a great way to network with other talented artist and keep in shape.
  • Remember your thoughts create your reality. You can do anything you put your mind to. Work on perfecting your skills and talents.
  • Pick up the phone and communicate like we used to. Technology has done great things however, has created many barriers for personal communication. It is especially important to reach out to loved ones and friends, even if it's just to remind them that you love them.
  • Taking risks allows the unexpected to happen and this will open doors and experiences you would not had went through otherwise. Every experience will not be positive, don't be afraid of it, learn from it and use that to your advantage.
  • Dress up more often and go out to more social events and fundraisers to expand your business network. Great for singles, take the dating scene out of the club for once.
  • Think for yourself, question what people call a fact and do not be afraid to be opinionated. What people fear the most is simply being themselves. Conquer that fear.
  • Stop eating McDonald's and fast food on the regular. Start cooking easy simple meals at home. This also saves a lot of money!

Media exploits Adam Lambert performance

I can't believe America was so shocked, like they didn't know they boy was gay? This is kind of like when you come out to your parents even though all along they knew the truth. People are very sensitive and particular to things they do not understand. However, the media was very accepting of the infamous Britany and Madonna kiss that was internationally raved and publicized. Madonna seems to get away with a lot more than other artist...remember the Justin Timberlake and Janet wardrobe 'mishap?' Not only did Justin leave her to be fed to the wolves, Janet was forced to publicly apologize. What is up with the shadiness of America? This was a stunt to get attention and it worked, high five Adam.

'Faith or Foolishness?'

This world is a place where good and evil can co-exsist. Where there is good, there can be evil and we often hear 'the same thing that will make you laugh, will make you cry.' When it comes to religion and worship, it is supposed to be used to uplift, bring together and make positive changes in individuals lives. In some cases it does, but in others, it can be used to justify evil. I guess this would make sense because people are not perfect, so in everything man made, there will be a good side and a dark side. We strive for things like perfection, order, and immortality...it is in our nature. So some of us turn to religion to answer those questions that 'can't be answered.' For hundreds of years, we, the imperfect people, have fought over silly issues such as skin color, religion preferences, lifestyle choices and government. Anyone can just go along with a 'social norm' just to please higher authority, even if it goes against their own personal morals. So, does that then make them worthy? Or will it demand more sacrifice and suffering? And is their suffering then 'good' suffering versus someone who is not religious? Even though they deal with the same life stresses and issues. I know people personally who have turned to God due to life situations and needing direction. This is the path they chose and are then place upon a pedestal, warning others that if they don't take the same path, they are doomed to hell. Well some, not all. Remember, we are not perfect and most people will agree to that. This, coming from an average person can sound very egotistical. Live and let live.

'Little Miss Sunshine' is The Miracle Worker

'Little Miss Sunshine' Abigail Breslin will be playing Helen Keller in an upcoming Broadway production next year. Now as we all now, Helen Keller is a real story portrayed in 'The Miracle Worker.' This is the true story of a young girl born blind and deaf and how Annie Sullivan, her amazing teacher, teaches her how to communicate with the world. I am a fan of 'Little Miss Sunshine' and this would be a perfect part for her; 'The Miracle Worker' is an amazing story.

A young singer dies by coyote attack

A young Canadian folk singer who just started her solo tour dies after being attacked by coyotes in Nova Scotia Park. At the tender age of 19, Taylor Mitchell had a promising career as a singer but ended sadly today. What makes this story even sadder is that the coyotes continued to feed on her until help came minutes later. When police got to the scene, Mitchell had several bite wounds all over her body and bled to death. This story is not only baffling but unheard of. This is first time a brutal attack like this happened in broad daylight and took the life of a human in this park.

Dutch model painted Black

Dutch model Lara Stone is featured in the current issue of French Vogue. The sexy and controversial issue celebrates supermodels, people of color are not included. Steven Klien paints a Dutch model Black in this isssue...sorta strange right? After browsing the web, that seems to be the average opinion. The fashion industry tends to exclude people of color and this is just another example. I was looking for Noami Campbell in this issue. The pictures are hot, some are disturbing.  I found this picture below online and thought it was pretty much the same thing. Not too appealing, especially when marketing a product.

Levi to pose nude for Playgirl

Levi Johnston ladies and gentleman, is about to turn a new leaf, by ALL MEANS.
At the tender age of 19, Johnston has been training 6 nights a week for 3 hours a day for his close up in Playgirl magazine. Many, like myself are shocked especially with him coming out of the Palin family. Sarah Palin just released a new book,Going Rogue: An American Life, and rumored to be running for presidential office in 2012. Johnston's modeling career may not go too well for Palin. Even though this magazine deal is not yet sealed, Johnston appears to be preparing for it and focusing on his body. All this following the pregnancy of her daughter...could the children be lashing out for some reason? Or is all this typical Palin household shenanigans?

Cali loves pot!

Some of the strongest pot advocates are in California and they are rallying together to get Pot legal, making Cali the first state in the Nation to legalize Pot.

Currently advocates are collecting signatures for pot legalization for the 2010 ballot. On one poll, it did show that voters would support lifting the pot band in California. Are we headed for a new horizon? What will be the backlash if pot were to be legalized? What about these religious lobbyist that invest in political and corporation interest across the nation? I am not sure how far this could go.

As of today, you can smoke pot and be legal as long as it is for 'medical' purposes. In order to qualify for this, you have to go to a doctor and answer some simple, general questions and the health department issues you a 'Pot' card. One of the questions are, do you have trouble sleeping? The questions are so general and broad, ANYONE could probably get a 'pot' card. There are currently stores, vendors and business dealing pot in California and the state is making millions on taxing it. During this time of recession, many states could look at this as a way out.

While the state of California seems to want to loosen pot regulations, the Federal Government is pulling in the opposite direction and want to crack down even on those who use it for 'medical' purposes. One state proposal is a single person can possess up to one ounce of pot for personal use by adults 21 and older. Currently, Cali only fines at most $100 for this...in NY or Philadelphia, you would be arrested and put under the jail. So it's plain to see that California is already lenient when it comes to pot.

I'll Be Home For Christmas!

Actress and artist Jennifer Hudson just returned to her hometown in Chicago to film a ABC prime Christmas special, "I'll Be Home For Christmas." This program is set to air sometime in December of this year. According to ABC, the star is not only sharing her childhood memories but the music, people and the places that are closest and most special to her. With the recent death of her family members only one year ago, I can only imagine the emotional roller-coasters while filming, but I know she is ready for this and the special will turn out to be great.

A superwomen in the flesh

The 12 time Grammy award winner Alicia Keys has obviously established herself as a recording artist. This year the star is launching AK Worldwide, a new company founded under Keys that would host all of her international and humanistic projects. We have heard of Alicia going over seas to Africa and giving back, but she is about to take it to another level with AK Worldwide.

"It really explores the ways I can affect the world in a positive way, even outside of music...It is really about finding ways to bring forth things into the world that will give you and all the people that encounter them, and myself, inspiration." Alicia Keys.

Along with this project comes a brand new website, iamasuperwomen.com which spotlights phenomenal women all around the world and the causes which they fight for. She really is starting to remind me a lot of Angelina Jolie or Oprah...speaking of which, Keys quoted in an interview that the thing that she loved about Oprah is her ability to bring change into peoples lives and be apart of people's lives in a meaningful way. Go Alicia!

Letterman admits to affair to avoid $2 million scandal

The former Late Show TV host David Letterman has admitted to having sexual affairs over the past years, specifically with a female employee of the show back in the late 90's. An anonymous tip was put out and Letterman was being black mailed for $2 million dollars. Insiders are trying to cover up this media mess by saying Letterman was not in a relationship at the time, although sources say he did have a girlfriend, Regina Lasko.  Does he admit this affair to avoid paying this guy $2Mill? SMART!

What's happening to Mimi?

The highly anticipated album, at least by me, has not been bringing in the same numbers her last album, E=MC2, brought in. Almost a 70 percent drop, from 460K (E=MC2) to 170K for the new album. My opinion is this album is better than the last, so that's shocking. Madonna has had no PR promotion hardly for her new album and her first week projected sales were 90k. What is wrong with this picture? Many critics criticized Obsessed for it's bubble gum high-school girl lyrics and Mariah's provocative looks, like for her last video Touch My Body.

But are we really surprised? Over the years we have watched Mariah grow and get older but not really if you know what I mean. Other than that, Mariah's voice is just not the same. I have seen many live performances that were too hard to get through.  Especially because when it came to live performers, Mariah was always on top! She has now resorted to whispering, low octaves and high harmonizing. We true fans have long wanted her PR people to start promoting her as a true Diva, not someone trying to compete with Britany Spears or Beyonce. Mariah should have her own category.

Matthew Knowles caught cheating?

Researching Matthew Knowles, all that comes up is all this news about SCANDAL. Knowles is a wonderful producer, entrepreneur, and Father, as we know him. But could there be another side? And we all know in the world of entertainment, everything is not what it's cracked up to be. We often hear this types of things about Beyonce ie when it comes to her age or being very private of her personal life. Though, that doesn't bother me as much, I would be private too, so I don't know what the fuss is all about.
