Cali loves pot!

Some of the strongest pot advocates are in California and they are rallying together to get Pot legal, making Cali the first state in the Nation to legalize Pot.

Currently advocates are collecting signatures for pot legalization for the 2010 ballot. On one poll, it did show that voters would support lifting the pot band in California. Are we headed for a new horizon? What will be the backlash if pot were to be legalized? What about these religious lobbyist that invest in political and corporation interest across the nation? I am not sure how far this could go.

As of today, you can smoke pot and be legal as long as it is for 'medical' purposes. In order to qualify for this, you have to go to a doctor and answer some simple, general questions and the health department issues you a 'Pot' card. One of the questions are, do you have trouble sleeping? The questions are so general and broad, ANYONE could probably get a 'pot' card. There are currently stores, vendors and business dealing pot in California and the state is making millions on taxing it. During this time of recession, many states could look at this as a way out.

While the state of California seems to want to loosen pot regulations, the Federal Government is pulling in the opposite direction and want to crack down even on those who use it for 'medical' purposes. One state proposal is a single person can possess up to one ounce of pot for personal use by adults 21 and older. Currently, Cali only fines at most $100 for this...in NY or Philadelphia, you would be arrested and put under the jail. So it's plain to see that California is already lenient when it comes to pot.
